After failing to record a point in two games against the Ottawa Gee-Gees and the McGill Redmen, the Mustangs returned home last weekend and turned their luck around with two straight victories over UOIT and Queen's. The team will be looking to extend their mini win-streak when they take to the road this weekend for games against RMC (0-12-0) and Carleton (6-4-1).
Â
"I think the guys were really disappointed last weekend not coming away with any points after going on a pretty long road trip," said Mustangs assistant coach
Brendan Riggin after Saturday's win over Queen's. "So there was a bit of motivation to play well this weekend and I think they responded real well getting the four points."
Â
Sophomore forward
Daniel Erlich continued his hot play this season, notching four assists in Friday's 7-2 blowout before scoring one of the Mustangs' two goals against Queen's on Saturday. With his five points on the weekend, Erlich now leads the CIS in assists with 16 and points with 21.
Â
"Last year was my first year and I was trying to get used to the different style of game," Erlich told westernmustangs.ca this week. "I feel like I have gotten the hang of it and our team has become very close. My teammates make it easy to produce and the systems that the coaches use suit my style of game very well."
Â
Matt Clarke also had a phenomenal weekend for the Mustangs, recording two goals in Friday's contest before adding the overtime winner against Queen's. The second-year forward now has seven goals and 10 assists in 10 games this season and his seventeen points are good enough for sixth in the OUA.

Â
The Paladins are off to a tough start this season, kicking off the season with 12 straight losses to place them in last in the Eastern Division. Currently sporting a league-worst 71 goals against, RMC will be looking to keep Western's potent offense at bay when the Mustangs roll into town on Friday.
Â
One bright spot in the Paladins' tough season has been the play of rookie forward Jake Bullen, who currently sits first on the team with seven points in 12 games. Pointless in his last two starts, the Nova Scotia native will look to get back on top of his game in what will mark his first career meeting with the Mustangs.Â

The Ravens go into the weekend on a three game losing streak having dropped their last three matches to Ryerson, Toronto, and Brock. In those three games they have given up 15 goals combined, including nine in their 9-5 loss to the Rams on November 16.
Â
Leading the Ravens in scoring this year is Jeff Hayes, whose four goals and 10 assists give him 14 points in only 11 games this year. In net, Dalton McGrath has continued to impress for Carleton this season, putting up impressive numbers in his 10 games this season with a goals against average of 2.23 and a 0.937 save percentage.Â
