The Mustangs continue their quest for their first win of the regular season this week as they prepare to host Laurentian and Algoma at Alumni Hall. After a pre-season that saw the team pick up wins over Loyalist and Acadia, Western's run up against some of the top teams in the OUA to start the year, leaving the purple and white hoping to turn things around this weekend.
Veteran guards
Peter Scholtes and
Greg Morrow lead the team in scoring after six regulation games, averaging 11.8 and 11.3 points per game, respectively. Second-year forward
Andrew Van Camp has also proven significant for the Mustangs with a shooting average of 57% in field goals, followed by Morrow with an average of 49% so far this season.

The CIS No. 9 Laurentian Voyageurs are currently 6-0 in the regular season and are tied for first in the OUA East Division standings, while averaging 86 points per game, good for sixth on the CIS leaderboard. Laurentian is looking to post their seventh win of the season with the help of Alex Ratte, a senior guard ranked fourth in the CIS in scoring with an average of 24 points per game.
Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Alumni Hall.

Despite being in the first year of OUA competition the Algoma Thunderbirds are off to a good start as the team currently holds a 3-3 record early in the 2013-14 campaign. The Thunderbirds will be looking to clinch another win against the Mustangs with the help of senior guard Reynaldo Carnakie who has averaging 12 points per game on the season.
Game time is scheduled for Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall.
