Mustangs down Ravens 71-51 for first win of the season

Box Score OTTAWA – Four players scored in double digits as the Western Mustangs women's basketball team defeated the Carleton Ravens 71-51 on Saturday night at the Raven's Nest.
 
It was the Mustangs first win of the season after falling to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday night to start the season. Saturday's game was also the first loss for the Ravens after defeating Windsor by four points in their first regular season game.
 
Jenny Vaughan led all players with 20 points, while Kelsey Wright added 18 with Katelyn Leddy and Melissa Rondinelli contributing 14 and 12 points respectively.
 
Western came out of the gate strong outscoring the Ravens 22-9 in the opening quarter before taking 39-24 lead into the half. Carleton battled back in the second half outshooting the Mustangs 35.7% to 33.3%, however it wasn't enough as the purple and white walked away with the 71-51 victory.
 
Leddy grabbed five rebounds to lead the Mustangs while both Vaughan and Rondinelli each recorded three steals in the win.
 
After starting the season on the road the Mustangs return to London for the team's home opener on Friday, November 8, against Queen's. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. and fans can watch live on Mustangs TV or listen in on CHRW Radio.
