Box Score LONDON, Ont. -- The Western Mustangs men's basketball team took on the Queen's Gaels Friday evening in an 82-74 defeat at Alumni Hall. The game marks the team's third OUA regular season matchup, and first one after falling to both the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens last weekend.
In the first half the Mustangs came out refreshed, as they were able to stop the intense Queen's half-court basketball holding them to 18 points in the paint.
Western guard
Greg Morrow was the scoring leader for the Mustangs with a solid 66% field goal percentage accumulating eight first-half points for the team to go along with two assists, one block and one steal.
Quinn Henderson followed Morrow with seven points in 11 minutes, shooting 50% for the half. At end of the first half, the Mustangs led 40-37.
Morrow took charge once again in the second half, contributing another 12 points for the team while
Rashayne Case put up 11 points. The end of the second half saw a match result of 82-74, and a win for the Gaels.
Ottawa GeeGee Mackenzie Simpson led both teams with 26 points. Teammate Greg Faulkner followed with 14 points.
With tonight's loss, the Mustangs, now 0-3-0, sit in sixth place in the OUA West, while Ottawa (3-0-0) sits tied for first in the East, alongside Carleton and Queen's.Â
The Mustangs will take a break tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 8, before returning to the court to play the York Lions at Alumni Hall on Sunday, Nov. 10. Tip-off is 3:00 p.m. and fans from around the world can watch the game live
