OTTAWA, Ont. – The Western Mustangs figure skating team finished in first place this weekend at the Carleton Fall Figure Skating Invitational. The Mustangs wrapped up the one day event with a total of 63 points. In second place was Guelph University with 47 points while Queen's University finished closely behind in third place with 45 points.
The Mustangs were awarded medals in individual event categories counting towards the team championship. Christina Liao finished in second place in Gold Singles and Gary Wong took the top place in Men's Singles.
In the dance categories Clarissa Luo and Aysha Thomas took home first place in Junior Silver Similar dance, while Carly Smith and Lauren Malott also finished with a gold medal in Senior Silver Dance. Kendra Graham took home a silver medal in Open Individual Dance.
Pair's medalists included Andrea Richards and Carmen Wong in first place for Intermediate Similar Pairs, and Katherine Malcolm and Cynthia Yeung in second place for Senior Similar Pairs.
The Mustangs will continue their season at the Winter Invitational in Alymer on January 22 and 23.
