Coming off of yesterday’s victory, the Mustangs stepped onto the court with confidence, and challenged Guelph’s every move. However, the Gryphons appeared to be ready for the tough Mustang offense, playing at a different pace against the top ranked Mustangs. Battling for every point, Western came up short and the Gryphons took the set 25-22.
The journey may have tired out the Mustangs, as the second set mirrored the first. Guelph pushed Western, challenging their every play, and eventually pushed past white and purple to take the second set by a score of 25-21.
Down two sets, Western fought hard to get back into the match. Both teams exchanged points in the extremely close set. Though at times it looked like the Mustangs had gained momentum, Guelph managed to sneak past their visitors in a devastatingly close 31-29 set, allowing them to take a 3-0 victory.
Leading the Guelph Gryphons was Winston Rosser with a game high 19.5 points with 15 kills on 33 attempts.
