Mustangs head to Thunder Bay for doubleheader vs Lakehead

Western's men's basketball team has come out strong in 2014, winning two consecutive games against Guelph and Laurier to open the New Year, and will be looking to continue their streak as they travel to Thunder Bay this weekend for back-to-back games against the Lakehead Thunderwolves. Western has climbed the OUA standings to sit in fourth place with a record of 4-8 on the regular season.

Veteran guards Greg Morrow and Peter Scholtes lead the team in scoring after 12 regulation games, averaging 17.8 and 13.9 points per game, respectively. The Mustangs have three players who have played significant role in shooting this season with Morrow, Andrew Van Camp and Gabriel Soicher all averaging more than 50% from the field.

The Lakehead Thunderwolves are 4-8 on the season and have been shooting 43% from the floor, scoring about 69 points per game to provide a relatively even matchup against the Mustangs. The Thunderwolves enter this weekend's games as they try and rebound from their 77-71 loss to Waterloo last week.

Lakehead has three players averaging double digits with Henry Tan, Dwayne Harvey, and Anthony Mcintosh all scoring 11 points per game. The Thunderwolves have averaged 16 turnovers per game, a weakness that the Mustangs will try to expose as they search for their fifth and sixth wins of the season.

Tip-off for both games is set for 8:00 p.m. at Lakehead's C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse.
