Mustangs host top-ranked Lancers at Alumni Hall, meet McMaster on the road

The Western Mustangs women's basketball team continues their regular season this week at home as they host the top-ranked Windsor Lancers on Wednesday before heading to Hamilton to face the McMaster Marauders.  The Mustangs, currently in third on the OUA West division standings with a record of 11-3, will be looking to move up the standings with a pair of wins this weekend. With more than half the season already completed the Mustangs have proven themselves as a shooting powerhouse, placing first in the CIS for three-point shooting which has made them a threat this season.

The Mustangs have two players in the top 20 on the OUA scoring leaderboard with Jenny Vaughan averaging the second-highest points per game in the league with 23.6 points and Melissa Rondinelli coming in at 18 with 11.6 points per game.

The Windsor Lancers are on a roll this season with 13 consecutive wins and only one loss to give them the top spot on the OUA West division standings. The Lancers are the best shooting team right now in the CIS rankings as they lead the country in points per game and field goal percentages.

A player that the Mustangs defence will be on the lookout for is Windsor forward Jessica Clemencon who is the team's top scorer, averaging 18.4 points and eight rebounds per game.

Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Alumni Hall.

Western vs. McMaster - Saturday, January 25 - 1 PM

McMaster currently holds a 9-5 record in the OUA to place them in fourth in the West division just below Western. The Lancers defence has not had an issue with turnovers as the team is averaging only 15 per game which puts them on par with Western. However, McMaster has one of the best defensive games in the OUA containing their opponents to only 54 points per game.

Windsor's top scorer is Hailey Milligan with an average of 19.6 points per game and a 56% shooting average.

The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at McMaster's Burridge Gymnasium.
