The Western men's volleyball team returned home undefeated after a pair of road games in Toronto last weekend against Ryerson (10-6) and Toronto (4-12) to extend their winning streak to five wins. With four games left in the regular season the Mustangs now hold a 13-3 record and are currently tied with Waterloo for second in the OUA standings. The team will have an opportunity to break the tie this weekend when they host York (12-4) on Saturday and Nipissing (4-12) on Sunday.
The Mustangs are four points out of first behind the undefeated McMaster Marauders and will be looking for four points from this weekend's games to pull away from their tie with Waterloo. As playoffs approach, the purple and white will be looking to cement their place at the top of the OUA and secure home court advantage.
The Western squad has proven to be a tough opponent offensively, with three players among the top 10 scorers in the OUA, including fourth-year left-side
Garret May who leads the team with an average of 4.46 points per set and ranks third overall on the OUA scoring leaderboard. Fourth-year middle
Phil James comes in at number seven on the leaderboard with 3.69 points per set and a 39% kill percentage, followed closely by third-year left-side
Justin Scapinello at number 10 with 3.41 points per set. Libero Matthew Silver has clocked a team-high of 105 digs on the season.

The York Lions have a regular season record of 12-4 and have 24 points on the season, good for third in the OUA standings. The Lions are just two points behind the Mustangs and will be looking to come away with a win in the Mustangs home gym to launch them into second.
The Lions team is home to the league's top scorer in Ray Szeto who has averaged 4.81 points per set to take the top spot on the OUA scoring leaderboard. With no other Lions players appearing in the top 20, York's offence is not as diverse as that of the Mustangs and Szeto will the main focus of the Western squad heading into this weekend's matchup.

The Nipissing Lakers are 4-12 on the season with eight total points and will be entering Sunday's matchup with momentum after their 3-1 victory over the RMC Paladins last week.
Cameron Branch and Frankie Edgecombe lead the Lakers in their recent win over the Paladins with 24 and 21 points, respectively. Edgecombe has been the team's leading scorer all season with an average of 3.93 points per set to take the sixth position on the scoring leaderboard, but he is the sole Laker in the top 20.
Sunday's game will be also serve as the team's annual Senior Day celebration where the team will honour their graduating athletes prior to the first set.Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall.
