Mustangs set to reclaim second in OUA West with games against Guelph, Waterloo

The Western Mustangs women's basketball team is looking to put an end to their current two-game losing streak, the first time the squad has suffered two consecutive losses this season, as they head into a pair of weekend home games against the Guelph Gryphons on Wednesday and the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday. After back-to-back losses last week the Mustangs are now 11-5 on the season and move down from second to third in the OUA West Division standings. After this weekend's contests there are only four regular season games left on the Mustangs schedule and the purple and white will be looking to add as many victories as possible to their record for valuable playoff rankings.

Jenny Vaughan continues to lead the OUA in scoring with an average of 23.7 points per game, while teammates Katelyn Leddy and Melissa Rondinelli have both averaged 11 points per game.

Although Guelph has had a rough season, guard Katherine MacTavish has been the backbone of the team with an average of 18 points per game, followed by Erica McFadden with 10 points per game.

Tip-off is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall.

The Waterloo Warriors have only won two games this season which puts them in last place in the OUA regular season with no players averaging double digits. The Warriors have lost every game on the road and are currently on a 12-game losing streak so the Mustangs will be looking to take advantage of this game.

Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall on Saturday.
