Preview: Mustangs return home for games against Nipissing and York

After a brief break, the Mustangs are back in action this week with back-to-back weekend matches against Nipissing and York at Alumni Hall.
 
The Mustangs will be looking to their upcoming matches to get their season back on track after having their season-opening four-game win streak snapped by consecutive 1-3 losses to Guelph and then Windsor. 
 
Currently sitting at tenth in CIS, the Mustangs average 12.54 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .289, and nine digs per set.
 
Justin Scapinello continues to lead the Mustangs with 135 total points with an average of 5.6 per set. The veteran Mustang also tops the Western scoresheet with 118 kills, averaging 4.92 per set, while also recording 13 aces and 50 digs. Scapinello also sits on the CIS leaderboard, currently in first in kills per set, and first in points per set. Mike Choja, a third year player, joins Scapinello on the leaderboard, coming in at fifth in solo blocks while Brad Hockin sits in seventh in aces per set.

Coming off six consecutive losses, the Nipissing Lakers hope to use the upcoming match against the Mustangs to turn their season around.
 
With a current season record of 0-6, Nipissing currently averages 9.04 kills per set and a .165 hitting percentage.
 
Cameron Branch, in his second year with the team, leads the Lakers in total points (66.5), total kills (59), and kills per set (3.39), while Warren Taylor and Steve Wood top the scoresheet in total blocks (11).
 
Game time is set for 7:00pm, with the match available for streaming on OUA.tv.

Currently sitting at a 3-3 record, York hopes their weekend matchups against Windsor and Western will improve their season average.
 
With an average of 13.24 kills per set with a .317 hitting percentage, York surpasses the kill average of the Mustangs, ensuring Saturday's game will not be dull.
 
Senior Ray Szeto leads the York Lions in total points, averaging 4.1 per set, and total kills, averaging 3.68 per set. Szeto also ranks 13th within the CIS for kills per set, while fourth year setter Nikola Sandic sits third in the CIS for assists per set.
 
The game is set to begin at 7:00pm, with live online streaming available at OUA.tv.
