The Mustangs are back from the break for the second half of the season this week, as they start off the New Year against the Windsor Lancers at the St. Denis Centre on Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
The Mustangs finished the first half of their season sitting in second place in the OUA West Division Standings with a record of 5-3 after their 76-66 win over the Brock Badgers before the break. They sit behind the Lancers, who have a game in hand, with a 5-2 record in the same standings and is the CIS no. 5 team.
Greg Morrow continues to top the team with an average of 19.2 points per game, scoring the game-high 26 points in their last game against the Badgers. He places sixth in the OUA's top ten players in points per game. Morrow also leads in rebounds with 6.4 per game followed closely by teammate Tom Filgiano with 5.4. Filgiano has lead the defence in multiple games with an average of two steals and 2.2 assists per game proving his transfer from Acadia as beneficial to the Mustangs.
In his first year as a Mustang, Jedson Tavernier has gained the attention of many on the court and in the stands. He was one of three players reaching the double digit mark in the recent game against the Badgers and connecting 72.2% of his free throw attempts this season. Tavernier has proved to be a tough force in the key and on the perimeter for the Mustangs.

The Lancers have proven to be a challenging force to beat on the court placing first in the OUA West Division Standings and fifth overall in the CIS standings. With a record of 5-2, they defeated the Mustangs in their season opener and went 3-0 to start the season before losing to the Ryerson Rams.
Fourth year Lancer, Rotimi Osuntola leads the team with 21.1 points per game, which places him seventh overall in the CIS. Along with scoring a game-high of 28 points in the Lancers recent contest against McMaster, Osuntola has reached double digits in each game this season. Following his high scoring games, teammate Mike Rocca leads the team making 50% of his three-point attempts this season, holding that percentage in his last three games leading the team in outside shooting.
The Lancers team has connected 64.6% of their free throw attempts, proving the free throw line is no enemy to them. They have defined themselves as a high scoring team, winning their games with a difference of more than nine in each victory. After losing to CIS no. 4 team McMaster Marauders, the Lancers are taking the break to regenerate their power and come back to the court with full power.
