LONDON, Ont. – Despite starting off strong with an early lead the Western Mustangs men's soccer team fell 4-1 to the Windsor Lancers on Friday night at Mustangs Field.
The Mustangs got off to a positive start, opening up the scoring in the match with
Jovan Ivanovich firing the ball between the posts 19 minutes into the match. However Windsor then turned the tables, as Chris Lanni, Marco Bernabo, and Jumbo Iyowuna all netted goals to make the score 3-1 for the Lancers at half.
As the second half commenced, Western would try to recuperate however the Mustangs appeared to have trouble in the middle and on the attack. The purple and white defence would show more solid play in the second, however by the end of 90 minutes the Lancers would manage to add another point to their side of the scoreboard, with Chris Al-Youssef finding the net to give the Lancers a 4-1 victory.
With the loss the Mustangs regular season record now sits at 4-3-1, while Windsor improves to 3-3-0.
The Mustangs will look to rebound on Sunday, September 21, when they hit the road to face off against the McMaster Marauders. Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m.
