Western finishes Homecoming Weekend with a win over McMaster

HAMILTON, Ont. – The Western Mustangs women's soccer team continued their successful Homecoming Weekend, recording their second win in three days after defeating the McMaster Marauders 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

With this weekend's victories the Mustangs now sit at 8-1-0 on the season, good for second place in the OUA West Division. McMaster's regular season record now drops to 3-4-0.

Amanda Boyle opened up the scoring for the Mustangs, netting a goal just 15 minutes into the first half. Her second goal of the weekend brings Boyle to second place on the OUA leaderboard with 13 goals on the year.

The Marauders would hold the Mustangs to a one goal lead as the game entered the second half, however, the purple and white were able to break through their opponents' defence with Kerrie Sullivan scoring at the 60-minute mark. The scoreboard would remain at 2-0 in favour for the Mustangs until the final whistle.

The Mustangs are back in action next weekend, when they host the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, September 27. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Mustangs Field.
