OSHAWA, Ont. – In what's quickly becoming a familiar sight in October, the Western Mustangs women's lacrosse team is headed to the OUA finals and will have a chance to win their fifth consecutive OUA Championship on Sunday afternoon after defeating the Laurier Golden Hawks 12-7 in semi-final action on Saturday afternoon.
Lauren Stewart and
Megan Wilkins led the Mustangs offence on Saturday, scoring four goals each in the win.
Sheehan Mulholland was close behind with two markers of her own, while
Heather Pearson and
Amy Rawlings both added a goal.
Western's win sets up another showdown with the Brock Badgers, who snapped Western's nearly five season long winning streak last weekend with an 11-10 victory. The Mustangs edged out Brock 12-11 earlier in the season, meaning that Sunday's game is expected to be another close contest.
