DAY 3:
HAMILTON, Ont. – The purple and white lacrosse season came to an end on Sunday afternoon, with the Mustangs taking home a second-place finish following a narrow 11-10 loss to the Trent Excalibur.
The loss comes after a playoff run that saw the Mustangs twice lead the tournament in goals within a single game.
Trent proved to be the most formidable opponent to meet the Mustangs on the field, with the teams trading the lead back and forth throughout the game.
Amy Rawlings and
Megan Wilkins split the top spot on the scoresheet, each netting three goals throughout the afternoon. Rounding out the offensive effort was
Mikaela Harrison,
Heather Pearson,
Katy De Snoo, while
Hayley Liske and Wilkins recorded the only assists of the game.
Along with the team's silver medal, a number of Mustangs earned OUA honours, including
Maegan McCrory who was named the league's Most Valuable Defensive Player. Six players were named OUA All-Stars, with Wilkins, De Snoo,
Jacqueline Owens, and McCrory earning spots on the First Team, while both
Hayley Liske and
Chelsea Liske were named to the Second Team.

DAY 2:
HAMILTON, Ont. - Western secured a second OUA playoff victory today, topping the Laurier Golden Hawks by a score of 14-5 to move into the gold medal matchup.
For the second day in a row, the Mustangs recorded the highest goal total of tournament with only Queen's able to match the flood of goals.
Katy De Snoo had another impressive game, netting five goals and recording one assist.

Mikaela Harrison also added points to the board.
Defensively, the Mustangs continued to be solid in allowing only five goals to slip past goaltender
Claire Palmer.
The win allows Western to fight for the OUA banner, facing off against Trent tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
