Mustangs edged out by Lancers

WINDSOR, Ont. – A goal from Federico Ferrari early in the game would be the only of the evening, giving the Windsor Lancers a 1-0 win over the Mustangs Friday evening at Alumni Field.

The loss gives Western a 5-3-4 record, good for third place in the OUA West. Windsor now sits at an even 4-4-4 for sixth.

Netminder Kody Thomson saw lots of action against the Lancers, with 10 shots – three on goal – throughout the game.

Traffic was a bit lighter for Windsor's Kyle Vizirakis, with only two shots on goal. Parker Seymour netted one of two goals last time the teams faced off, and was responsible for one of the only shots on goal recorded in the rematch. The Toronto native and Amad El-Houni were the only two who neared the net, with seven other shots coming from the Mustangs.

Ferrari's goal came just one minute and 35 seconds into the first half, giving the Lancers all the momentum they needed to hold off the Mustangs for the rest of the game.

The Mustangs return home to Mustangs Field next week, taking on Waterloo and Laurier in rematches. First up are the Warriors on Saturday, October 15 at 3:1 5p.m., with a game against the Golden Hawks scheduled for the following afternoon at 2:15 p.m.
