After a few weeks away from the friendly confines of Alumni Hall, the Mustangs are back on home court this week to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks this Wednesday before heading on the road to face the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday.
Western recorded their first victory over the past weekend, taking a 53-51 victory over the Lakehead Thunderwolves. The Mustangs 1-3 record places them in a tie for third place with Algoma in the OUA West Division standings following Laurier and Windsor who are two points ahead.
The purple and white have been led so far this season by two new members of the roster, with Eriq Jenkins recording an average 14.8 points and Omar Shiddo following with 11.8 points per game. Nikola Farkic had an exceptional performance in the Mustangs latest contest, recording 15 points, 16 rebounds and five assists to help lead the team to their first win of the season, while also earning himself Western Male Athlete of the Week honours.
Three players led Mustang defense with Farkic contributing an average 5.5 rebounds per game, with Jenkins and Jedson Tavernier recording 4.5 rebounds per game apiece. Farkic also records an average 4.5 assists while Jenkins has 2.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

The Golden Hawks sit in a tie for first place in the West with a 2-3 record alongside the Windsor Lancers who also have four points. Laurier gained their victories from Algoma early in the season and York this past weekend, in which they won 74-67.
The team's offence is led by rookie Tevaun Kokko who records 15.2 points per game, including a 21-point performance in their win against Algoma. Golden Hawk veterans Vlad Matovic and Chuder Teny follow with 10.2 and 8.4 points per game, respectively.
Matt Chesson leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 6.4 per game, while Nicholas Broady records 5.6 rebounds and Matovic with 5.4 per game. Five other Goldenhawks record over three rebounds per game spreading defensive plays amongst may players on the team.

Waterloo currently sits in fifth place of the OUA West Division Standings with a 0-3 record, with their most recent loss coming at the hands of Queen's who won 78-59.
Four Warriors have a double digit scoring average with Nedim Hodzic recording 15 PPG while veterans Jon Ravenhorst and Ben Davis contribute 14.3 and 13.7 respectively. Hodzic has recorded over ten points in all contests this season, topping the score sheet with 16 points in their recent contest against Queen's.
The majority of the team's rebounds fall in the hands of forward Mike Pereira with 8.7 rebounds and Ravenhorst who grabs an average 7.3 off the glass including 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals. Pereira's strongest game on the boards came against York where he contributed 16 rebounds, 10 of which made defensively.
