Mustangs set to welcome Laurentian and Nipissing to Thompson Arena

A two-game homestand may be just what the doctor ordered as the Mustangs look to snap their seven game losing streak against Laurentian and Nipissing this weekend.

In order to get into the win column, Western will need to rebound from two disappointing games against Ryerson and Toronto last weekend, which they lost 5-2 and 7-3, respectively.

However, optimism abounds. Connor Chartier scored twice last weekend, and is now in sole possession of the team lead with eight points. Chartier is tied with Rob Polesello atop the Mustangs leaderboard with four goals.

Meanwhile, captain Matt Marantz returned from injury over the weekend and picked up one assist against Toronto to give him five on the season, tops for Western.

Western vs. Laurentian – Friday, November 25 at 11:00 A.M. – Watch live on OUA.tv

The Laurentian Voyageurs have gotten off a solid start to their season and posted a 7-6-1 record, good for seventh in the tough OUA East Division.

The Voyageurs come into London on a three-game winning streak, having beating Toronto, Carleton and RMC. All three of which are teams that recently recorded victories against Western.

Darcy Haines stands out as Laurentian's scoring leader with 10 points in 13 games this season. Nick Esposto leads the team with six goals.

Friday's contest will be something unique in recent Mustangs history: a school day game with puck drop scheduled for 11 a.m. Nearly 1,500 students from London area schools will pack Thompson Arena, setting the stage for what surely will be the loudest crowd of the season so far for the purple and white.

Western vs. Nipissing – Saturday, November 26 at 7:00 P.M. – Watch live on OUA.tv

Nipissing has had more of a rough go of it the East Division. They are 4-8-1 with a minus-20 goal differential.

In fact, they have allowed the most goals in their division, some the Mustangs will look to take advantage of this weekend That should provide a lift to help the Mustangs' emerging offence from the past few games.

Strangely, the Lakers have recorded three of their four victories on the road, while the Mustangs have recorded three of their four victories at home, meaning that something will have to give when the two teams face off on Saturday night.
