After splitting their schedule last week, the Mustangs are back in action this week with a pair of home contests against the Carleton Ravens and RMC Paladins.
Â
Western beat Guelph 6-4 last Friday on the back of a balanced offensive effort in which there were six different goal scorers and 11 different players recorded points. However, the next night at York things didn't go as well in a 5-0 loss in which the Mustangs were thoroughly outplayed in every facet of the game.
Â
Western now sits in the middle of the standings with a 4-3 record, but there are some signs that point in the right direction. The team has a .917 save percentage, which ranks sixth in the OUA, but have allowed a significant number of shots against. With some tighter defensive play, the purple and white should soar up the standings.

Western vs. Carleton – Thursday, November 3 at 7:00 P.M. – Watch live on OUA.tv and Rogers Cable 13
Â
Carleton will immediately present a defensive challenge for Western as they lead the OUA with 37 goals and 66 assists, including 13 goals over their last two games. Forward Michael McNamee leads the team with 13 points.
Â
The Ravens are liable to strike on special teams, where they rank third in powerplay percentage and have already tallied two shorthanded markers.
Â
Western has yet to allow a shorthanded goal, and have consistently overwhelmed their opponents whenever they are a man down. Limiting penalties and strong penalty kill could provide the difference in Thursday's affair.
Â
Western vs. RMC – Friday, November 4 at 7:00 P.M. – Watch live on OUA.tv and on Rogers Cable 13 (Tape Delay to 10 PM)
Â
RMC should be lower-scoring game than the night prior, as they have only scored 15 goals on the season, compared to 30 allowed. No one on the RMC roster has recorded more than two goals or five points to date.
Â
It will be important for the Mustangs to jump on RMC early, since they are 0-2 on the second night of back to backs this season.
Â
Western will also look to take advantage of a weak RMC defence that ranks 13
th in save percentage at an even .900, and 20
th in powerplay goals against, having already given up 10.
