After splitting their matchups against Carleton and Ottawa this past week, the Mustangs will be looking to improve their record and move above the .500 mark this Thursday and Saturday against the Guelph Gryphons and the Brock Badgers as they begin a three-game road trip.
The Mustangs held an early lead against the Ravens on Friday evening, but fell to two shorthanded goals from Carleton, losing the advantage. Western continued to find the back of the net, but a third power-play goals from the Ravens would ultimately be too much for the purple and white to overcome, falling 4-3.
The following evening was a different story for the Mustangs as they took on the Ottawa Gee-Gees in their third home game of the year. The penalties added up for Western once again as Ottawa took the early advantage with a power-play goal, but Western quickly responded with a pair of goals of their own. Both teams traded goals throughout the first two periods, but the final frame belonged to the Mustangs as they scored four unanswered goals to give them the 7-3 victory.

The Guelph Gryphons come into Thursday's matchup against the Mustangs with a 1-2-1Â record to start the season. The Mustangs got the better of the Gryphons in their previous game last season, taking the 6-4 victory.
Guelph sits around the middle of the pack in terms of scoring so far this season, as they score 3.25 goals per game while getting off 32.5 shots per game, ranking 18
th and 16
th in the country, respectively. However, the team has struggled to protect the net this year, as they've allowed 18 goals through just four games.
First-year forward Todd Winder will be looking to continue his point production against the purple and white, leading the team with three goals so far on the year. Manny Gialedakis, who remains a consistent veteran presence on the team, will also be a focal point of the Western defence, putting up two goals and a pair of assists through his first four games.
Guelph will be led by head coach Shawn Camp who is currently in the midst of his 11
th season with the Gryphons. Camp boasts an abundance of coaching experience, not just in the OUA, but in the CHL and Hockey Canada as well.

The Brock Badgers will head into their meeting with the Mustangs with an 0-3-1 record on the season, as they will look to earn their first win against Western this week. Brock got the better of Western in their previous matchup last year, as the Badgers walked away with the 5-3 victory.
This season has been a struggle offensively for the Badgers, as Brock has yet to score on any of their 15 power-play opportunities. The goaltending has been promising for the team, as they boast a .914 save percentage, but the efforts in net have not been complicated by the offence, as they have only been able to capitalize for 10 goals through their first four games.
Veteran goaltender Clint Windsor has been a bright spot for the Badgers so far this season, as he has 148 saves through his first four games. Defenceman Dexter Weber has also been strong in facilitating the puck for Brock, as he leads the team in points with four assists this year.
Brock will have head coach Marty Williamson at the helm this season. Williamson, who compiled a 218-157-33 record and never missed the playoffs in six seasons behind the Niagara IceDogs bench, has been named interim head coach of the Brock men's hockey team for the year and will hope to get the team back on track against Western this weekend.
