TORONTO, Ont. – A pair of goals in the third period carried the Toronto Varsity Blues to a 4-2 win over the Western Mustangs on Saturday night at Varsity Arena.

The loss moves Western to a 3-7-0 record, while Toronto improves to 4-6-0.

Kyle Petit and Cordell James each hit the back of the net for the Mustangs in the loss. The Varsity Blues relied on four different athletes to generate points, with Matt Campagna, Hunter Atchinson, Phil Chadder, and Casey Knight all scoring once.

Toronto was first on the board, after Campagna picked up a pass from Charlie Connell and weaved through the purple and white defence to find the back of the net.

The Varsity Blues would score again before the end of the period, with Atchinson netting a wrap-around goal with only three minutes remaining.

Western responded only seven minutes into the second, with a goal from Petit coming off assists from Rylan Bechtel and Rob Polesello.

James tied the game for the Mustangs late in the second period with a shorthanded breakaway goal, sending the teams into the third period tied at 2-2.

Toronto put up two more goals before the final whistle, with Chadder scoring midway through the period before Knight cemented the win with an empty net goal.
