Western set for weekend matchups with Windsor and Laurier

The Mustangs are set to hit the road for their first game of theweek, as they travel to Windsor on Friday night to take on the Lancers, before facing the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday to kick off a three-game homestand.
 
The Mustangs will be looking to bounce back after a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Brock Badgers last Saturday. The Mustangs are currently 1-4 to start their season, with their only win coming in an impressive 7-3 win over Ottawa.
 
The team will be looking to first year Dan Davies to keep up his consistent play in net. Despite the team posting a -7 goal differential, Davies boasts a .907 save
 
second year goaltender Nicholas Legallais to keep up his consistent play in net. Despite the team posting a -7 goal differential, Legallais boasts a .907 save percentage, which includes 45 saves in the team's win over the Gee-Gees. On the offensive end, third year Sepnser Cobbold is the team's leading scorer, with three power play goals and two assists for a point a game pace.

Friday night will be an opportunity for the Mustangs to find a spark to turn around the slow start to their season. Windsor are currently only three points ahead of the Mustangs in the standings, with a 2-3-1 record, with the Mustangs having a game in hand. The Lancers will be looking to thee scoring duo of first year Ian Parker and third year Brennan Feasey, who together have combined for six goals.

Western will then return to Thompson Arena for a showdown with Laurier on Saturday night. The Golden Hawks are off to a great start in 2017-18, holding a 4-1-1 record that has them in second place in the OUA West, just three points behind the division-leading York Lions. Laurier's used a balanced scoring attack through six games, with six players having at least two goals so far. The Golden Hawks will also look to continue their strong defensive play, with the goaltending duo of Chris Festarini and Colin Furlong combining for a 2.11 goals against average and a +8 goal differential so far this season.
