The Mustangs will be back in action this week, as the women's hockey team will play host to the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday before hitting the road to take on the Ryerson Rams Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs will be looking to continue their early season success, as they attempt to stay undefeated in regulation. The team is 3-0-0-1, with their only loss being in the shootout to the Brock Badgers, good for second in the OUA.

The Mustangs offense has combined for 15 goals in four games, led by fifth years Amanda Pereira and Megan Taylor. Pereira has three goals in four games, good for her to be tied second in the OUA, while Taylor has three assists and five points. The defence has proved strong as well, allowing only six goals to slip past first year goaltender
Carmen Lasis. Lasis has stepped into the role of starting goalie to start the season, registering 105 saves in four games, the third highest in the OUA.Â

Toronto will prove tough competition for the Mustangs, who are nipping at their heels in the standings, being only one point back with a game in hand. Toronto boasts some of the best defense in the league, with the lowest goals against in the league, allowing only two to slip past goalie Madeline Albert.

After their tough home matchup, the Mustangs will visit Ryerson on the road, who the Mustangs have already bested once this season 3-1. Despite the loss, the Rams are still tied for third in the OUA, and are only one win away from leapfrogging the Mustangs in the standings. The Rams will be relying on former Mustang Kryshanda Green for power on the offence, as she is tied for first in the OUA with 5 points, four of which are goals.
