Losses against Concordia and UQTR spelled the end of playoff contention for the Mustangs this season, but they look to finish off their campaign on a positive note against Lakehead this week.
Â
On Friday, Concordia built a quick 3-0 lead in the first period and Western was never able to recover, eventually succumbing to the Stingers 7-4. Andrew Goldberg scored twice for the purple and white.
Â
The next day, the Mustangs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead of their own, only to allow four consecutive goals over the second and third period. A goal by
Rob Polesello brought the team back within one, but that was as close as they would get in the 5-3 loss.
Â
Goaltender
Greg Dodds faced a busy workload this season, but has continued to impress. He stopped 70 shots over the two games to keep the Mustangs within striking distance. Heading into the final week of the regular season Dodds has made the second most saves in the OUA this season.
