Western falls to Queen's 26-8

KINGSTON, Ont.- In a game that marks the midpoint of their regular season, the Western Mustangs fell to the Queen's Gaels by a 26-8 score on Saturday afternoon at Nixon Field.
 
Michael Coldwells led the scoring for Western with one try, while William Sauder added a penalty goal to round out the scoring for the purple and white. Alex Colborne led all players with 11 points off a try and three conversions for the Gaels.   
 
Queen's opened up the scoring five minutes into the contest with a try by Nicholas DeLallo followed by a successful conversion from Colborne.  Fifteen minutes later, the duo repeated to make it 14-0 for Queen's.
 
Just before the end of the first half Western broke onto the scoreboard with a penalty goal from Sauder to cut the Gaels lead to 14-3 at the half.
 
In the second half, Colborne continued his streak for the Gaels when he scored both a try and conversion at the 59-minute mark to cap off his 11-point afternoon.
 
Coldwells gave the Mustangs their only try of the contest in the 69th minute, however the Gaels responded with a try from Charlie Tremblay to claim a 26-8 win.
 
The Mustangs will head back to Kingston for their next matchup as they take on the RMC Paladins on Saturday, September 30, at 3 p.m.
 
Western will look to close the gap between Brock and Guelph who are currently tied for second place in the OUA, while the Paladins will aim to pick up their second win of the season.
