The Mustangs look to continue their winning streak – having not lost since November 30 – as they travel North to Thunder Bay to take on the Lakehead Thunderwolves in a Friday/Saturday doubleheader.
The latest purple and white victory came over the York Lions, who are now fourth in the OUA West. The Mustangs currently hold an 8-9-2 record and are in a three way tie for sixth, alongside Lakehead and Windsor.
Trevor Warnaar added an assist in the win against York to push his points total to 17 over the last 19 games. The second year left winger continues to lead the Mustangs in goals, with 12, and is pushing for the lead in points. He sits one-point shy of team leader
Rob Polesello, who has 3 goals and 15 assists for 18 points.
Kyle Pettit notched the game winner against York, who rounds out the Mustangs offense with six goals and seven assists so far this season.

Luke Peressini continued his excellent play for the Mustangs, earning the win with 28 saves, 17 of which came in the second period. Peressini has earned three of the Mustangs last four wins, and his recent return to the ice following injury has been a big part of their recent success.

The Mustangs will make the 16-hour trek to Thunder Bay this weekend, where they'll face off against the Lakehead Thunderwolves on back-to-back nights.
The Thunderwolves and the Mustangs are in a deadlock for sixth place in the OUA, with identical 8-9-2 records. Both teams will be looking for two big wins in order to solidify their playoff position, with Windsor and Waterloo close behind.
The Mustangs have a slight statistical edge over the Thunderwolves – the Mustangs have more goals for, with 68 to their 41, and have a preferable goal differential, with -3 compared to -12. The purple and white power play also tops that of Lakehead, with a league leading 23.2 success rate, compared to the Thunderwolves league bottom 10.3.
Scott Gall leads the Thunderwolves forwards, with 14 points and eight goals in 19 games. The rookie forward is making a splash in his first season in the league, and is an important part of the Lakehead game plan. The offense is rounded out by Dylan Butler, who has two goals and 12 assists for 14 points of his own.
The Thunderwolves have a potent blue line, with the ability to shutdown opposing players, as well as possesses the ability to score goals.
Jake Ringuette is a strong veteran presence on the Thunderwolves, and is the third leading point scorer on the team. With three goals and 12 points in 19 games, Ringuette has proved that he can shut down the opposing team while still producing points.
This will be the first and second of three meetings this season, all key matchups for the Mustangs in their push for the playoffs. The Mustangs will be looking for revenge on the Thunderwolves from last season, when they swept the season series against Western to prevent Western from moving into the playoffs.
