Thunder Bay, ON - The Mustangs & Thunderwolves were firing shots back and forth as they combined for 85 total shots in the 4-2 loss. 

Lakehead got 2 goals late in the first period to put up a comfortable lead after 20 minutes. 

In the 2nd period Western would get themselves on the board when Anthony Stefano scored his second goal of the season, assists would go to Trevor Warnaar & Trent Ouellette to cut the Lakehead lead to 2-1. 

The Thunderwolves would respond just after the 15-minute mark of the period to extend their lead to 3-1. 

The Mustangs were putting full offensive pressure on in the 2nd as they fired 24 shots on the Lakehead goal but could only get the single goal. 

The Mustangs would continue that pressure in the 3rd period when at the 7:23 mark Kolten Olynek would bring the Mustangs within a goal with an assist from Ethan Szypula to make it 3-2 Lakehead. 

Western would continue the pressure in the 3rd with 16 shots and with just under a minute left they would pull the goalie for the extra attacker, but Lakehead would convert with an empty net goal to seal the win. 

The Mustangs are now 1&2 on the early season, this was Lakeheads 1st game of the year making them 1-0.
