Oshawa, ON – The Mustangs held on to win bronze over the host Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at the OUA Championship this weekend.
Fawn Porter scored five of the Mustangs goals in the 14-11 victory.
For the Mustangs, the bronze comes after missing the final four last season for the first time in a number of years.
The win capped off a very busy weekend which started with a 11-7 win over the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday night. Erin Heidecker & Timmia Bomberry had hat tricks in the game for Western, Katy De Snoo added a goal and three assists for the Mustangs.
Moving to Saturday the Mustangs played a tight game but fell to the Queen's Gaels 11-7. Katy De Snoo & Fawn Porter each had a pair of goals for the Mustangs.
Katy De Snoo & Fawn Porter were named 1st Team All-Stars for their performance. Keira Gowan & Isabelle Naumovski were named 2nd Team All-Stars.
