The second weekend of Ontario University Tennis League began with the Western Men's Tennis team taking the courts against Brock and Toronto on Saturday, September 21
th and Sunday, September 22nd at the Western Tennis Centre and Saint Thomas' Pinafore Park.

On Saturday against Brock, the Mustangs started off strong in doubles – taking the doubles point by 2 matches to 1. Ethan Milavsky and Wilson Boyle teamed up to win their match at 3 Doubles, while Basil Leahy and Daniel Gharagozloo took their match 8-6 to put Western in front, 1-0.

After the doubles finished, Western began the singles matches strong. Daniel Gharagozloo, Alden Eakins, Ethan Milavsky, Wilson Boyle, and Shiv Kandappah all won their matches in straight sets to give Western an insurmountable 6-0 lead. Â Basil Leahy played a fantastic match that went down to the wire, losing in a third set tiebreaker.

The following day, Western hosted the Toronto Varsity Blues in a nail-biting tie.

For the second day in a row, Western took the doubles point by 2 matches to 1. Former NCAA player, Alex Day, teamed up with Matt Erdman to win their match at 2 doubles 8-4. At 1 doubles, veteran, Brent Moffatt, and former Rookie of the Year, Matthew Oliver, came back from 6-4 down to win their match 8-6.

Western's won it's first singles point of the day when Matt Erdman's opponent retired after losing the first set 6-4. Toronto kept itself in the tie by getting its first point at court 1 singles, but Western quickly responded when Daniel Gharagozloo won his match 6-2, 6-3 at court 6. Toronto refused to go down without a fight, winning court 5 singles to stay within reach of the win, down 3 points to 2.

Western's captain, Mark Jensen, once again clinched the final point for Western with a 7-5 7-6 (7) win at court 2 singles. Although Toronto was able to win its match at court 3 singles, Western took the tie 4-3.
The next event for the Mustangs will see McGill come to Western on Friday for a 4:00pm start and then the University of Montreal on Saturday at 12:00pm. Both matches taking place at the Western Tennis Centre.
