London, ON – The OUA Men's Tennis Championship remains with the Western Mustangs for a third year after the Mustangs took the banner with an overall score of 6-1, beating the rival Toronto Varsity Blues.
The Varsity Blues and Mustangs met in the morning with Western taking the doubles point after sweeping all three matches. The scores were 8-2, 8-5 & 8-7 (7-5 tiebreak).
In singles action the Mustangs took five of the six matches on route to a 6-1 overall result.
Matt Oliver was named OUA MVP after he and Ashton Cross won their doubles match and then he defeated Toronto's Rassam Yazdi (6-4, 6-1).
Yazdi & Eric Cherniy were named OUA All-Stars for the Varsity Blues while Oliver and Ron Singer were named All-Stars for Western.
The OUA Rookie of the Year were Ashton Cross for Western and Zack Wilson for Toronto.
Mustangs coaches Cameron Cross & Anthony Glavanic were named Coaches of the Year.
