St. Catharines, ON – The Women's Volleyball team hit the road Sunday afternoon to take on the undefeated Brock Badgers, ultimately falling 3-1.

After losing in straight sets to the first-place team on Friday, the purple and white were able to build off of their momentum and take a set, making Brock work for their win.

Janelle Albert led the way with 15 kills, while Jaeya Brach had a pair of aces.

Western managed to keep it close for much of the first set, but the undefeated side continued to fire and came away with an eventual 25-18 win.

The second set proved to be closer as Western got out to an early 4-1 lead. The team's continued to exchange points for most of the set, until the hosts eventually claimed it 25-22.

The third set went the way of the Mustangs.

Despite an early lead from Brock, the teams would take turns holding the lead for much of the frame. At the technical timeout, Western would be up 16-13 courtesy of a Kate Van Camp kill.
The purple and white managed to build off of their momentum and took the set 25-19 after an Albert serve resulted in an error from the hosts.

While Western had a 14-11 lead in the fourth as they tried to force a deciding fifth, a Badgers timeout proved to be vital in turning the set around for them, as they eventually crawled back to take it 25-17 in dominant fashion.

Despite the loss, Western continues to show good improvement and strong play, especially against one of the OUA's top teams. They drop to 5-4 on the season and sit in third in the West division behind Brock and McMaster.
