London, ON - The Western Mustangs join the entire football and university community in mourning the sudden passing of Bob LaRose.
LaRose was a Western graduate with a degree in Physical Education and he also played for both the basketball and football team during his time at Western. He was recognized as the Claude Brown Trophy Winner in his graduating year.
He was drafted to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football team where he played 8 seasons as co-captain and players' rep, followed by a year as colour commentator for CBC Western Canada Football. He would also complete a Masters degree in Kinesiology at Western.
LaRose would later become the Defensive Coordinator for the football program as well as an Associate Professor of Sports Psychology and Kinesiology. He coached football at Western for 20 years and had an impact on hundreds of student athletes during tenure.
