Waterloo, ON- Mustangs came out hard against the Golden Hawks, but couldn't find a goal against strong standing Christian Propp, Laurier goaltender. The Mustangs will look to turn the tables and finish out the regular season on a high against Windsor on Saturday afternoon. In an evenly matched game, with shots 36-36, the Mustangs just couldn't capitalize on scoring chances.

The first period brought intense play, with both team's seasons on the line, each came out strong looking to get on the scoresheet first. Five minutes into the first, Eric Van Impe took an unsportsmanlike penalty, giving Laurier their first powerplay of the game. Western was able to successfully kill off the penalty, keeping the score at 0s. Both teams went scoreless on a powerplay each, and despite Laurier outshooting Western 18-10 in the first, Dylan Myskiw made some big saves to keep this game tied.

The opposing Golden Hawks came out strong in the second, looking to take advantage of their third and fourth powerplays of the game just a minute and then three minutes into the period. Despite Western killing off both penalties, Laurier's Matt McJannet was able to take advantage of the momentum and netted the Golden Hawks' first of the game 8 minutes in.

Thirteen minutes into the second, Western was on the powerplay, looking to tie the game at one. Laurier was able to kill this off, and with just a minute and a half remaining, get their second of the game to go into the final 20 minutes up 2-0.

The third period consisted of lots of back and forth chances, with Western creating chances and looking to get on the board. Despite outshooting Laurier in the third period, Western couldn't put the puck past a well performing Propp, leaving the Mustangs scoreless. In a last attempt to get on the board, Western pulled their goalie with two minutes remaining, however Western lost possession and Laurier was able to take advantage of an empty net to make the final score 3-0 Golden Hawks.

Western will look to come out on top at their next home game on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs will face the Windsor Lancers in their final home game of the regular season. Puck-drop is at 3pm at Thompson Arena or can be watched on OUA.tv.
