Rochester, NY - The Mustangs competed at the 2023 Great Lakes Regional Championship this past weekend at the Rochester Institute of Technology, winning both the Women's Team Championship and Coed Teams Championship.
Western was automatically seeded directly into single elimination in the Coed Team Competition, being one of the top three schools out of 11 schools registered.
The Mustangs then beat the University of Michigan 3-1 in the semi-finals to book their ticket to the final. The purple and white topped the University of Waterloo 3-1 later on in the day on Saturday to secure the title.
On the women's side, the Mustangs took part in round robin play, on Saturday, the 'Stangs first beat Cornell 3-1, before topping the University of Michigan 3-2 right after.
The purple and white then took on Toronto, where they won 3-2, before going on to beat Michigan State 4-0.
As the Mustangs were the team with the most points in the round robin, they were awarded the regional championship title.
The Mustangs have now qualified for the 2023 College Table Tennis National Championships in Round Rock, Texas on April 14-16.
