Season of Celebration: Rowing

London, ON -  Today's team recognition as part of the 2023 Mustangs Season of Celebration are the Mustangs Rowing Teams.


 
The Mustangs Women's team kept their streak alive this season, winning their 9th consecutive OUA Championship. Western secured 486 points, bringing home 3 gold medals, 2 silver and 2 bronze. 
 
The team then followed the OUA Championship with a 2nd place finish at the Canadian University Rowing Championships. Western secured a podium finish four times, including gold medal performances from the Women's Lightweight 1x race and Karissa Riley. Riley was also in the Women's Lightweight 4+ boat that picked up a gold medal, that included Sara Butler, Hayley Conrad, Kaitlyn Hall & Enna Sue as they finished with a time of 6:47.130. Western also took home a silver medal in the Women's 2- race, run by Rachel Weber & Elisa Bolinger. Bolinger also added a bronze medal in the Women's 1x race. 
 
The Women's team MVP for the season was Karissa Riley 
 
On the men's side, they had a strong showing at the OUA Championship finishing 2nd in the overall team standings with 402 points taking home 3 gold medals and 3 silver. They followed that up with a 5th place finish at the national level. 
 
The Men's team MVP for the season was David Johnson
 
Bronze W recipients are: Jamie Blunt, Andrew Bowman, Rosie Butterworth, Kaitlyn Hall, Mackenzie Mihorean, Angus Oxley, Cheyenne Sawchuk, Andrew Suthons, Rachel Weber, and Gabby Yarema 
 
Graduating Ring recipients are: Elisa Bolinger, Andrew Bowman, Alexander Brandt, Marcus Doyle, Jeremy Langelaan and Karissa Riley 
 
Congratulations to all those being recognized this season for their outstanding work representing the Mustangs.
