Box Score SUDBURY, ON - The Western Mustangs picked up their fourth 100+ point game of the season against the Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday afternoon, dominating their opponents to complete the 31-point victory.
The Mustangs took the lead right from the jump and managed to hold it for the opening minutes until Laurentian came back to overtake them.
While they only trailed briefly, Western was facing a Voyageurs team that came out fighting hard, proving a consistent challenge for the Mustangs, managing to hold their own making great picks, and getting around their defenders.
Laurentian tied the score with 1.5 minutes remaining, but the Mustangs managed to pull back up and hold the lead to end the first quarter up 25-22.

Western extended their lead up to 32-26 in the first two minutes of the second quarter, before the Voyageurs quickly narrowed the gap back down to 3 points following the Mustangs' run.Â
It's been an incredible back-and-forth game so far, and while Western has held the lead for much of the game, Laurentian continued to give their all to keep themselves in the game.Â
The Mustangs have had a stronger second quarter than the first, and are capitalizing off Laurentian's mistakes more consistently.Â
After out-scoring their opponent 30-18 in the second, the Mustangs held the lead at the end of the first half, up by 13 at 55-40.Â

The Mustangs were quick to extend their lead up to 63-40 in the first minute of play out of halftime, going on a 10-0 run.Â
Despite holding the game within 15 points at the end of the first half, the Mustangs pushed themselves up to a 35 point lead within five minutes of play, out-scoring the Voyageurs 23-03 at the midpoint of the quarter.
It was an electric third quarter for Western, as they continuously increased their intensity throughout the quarter, forcing the Voyageurs to keep playing catch-up.Â
With the final quarter under way, the Mustangs closed out the third once again holding their opponent to less than 20 points, while scoring over 30 themselves, up 87-56.

There was no doubting that the Voyageurs came into the fourth quarter fighting just as hard as they started, despite the significant deficit they faced.Â
Western was making some impressive defensive plays, continuously blocking shots and maintaining pressure on Laurentian.
The century mark was hit by the Mustangs with two minutes remaining, after the Voyageurs managed to keep Western off the board as much this quarter, stepping up their defensive pressure.Â
Wrapping up the weekend with back-to-back 100+ point victories, the Mustangs picked up the win over Laurentian 102-71.Â

Western will return to Alumni Hall next weekend as they face the Queens Gaels at 8 pm on Friday, before Saturday's
2024 Senior Night against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.Â
