Five Mustangs score in double-digits, but Ottawa holds on to 86-81 win

After losing a tough game to Carleton yesterday, the Mustangs took on the Ottawa Gee-Gees at Montpetit Hall on Saturday night. 

Matteo Zagar led the way for the Mustangs in the first half scoring 14 points on 7-11 shooting and pulling down 5 rebounds. Western tied it at the end of the first quarter, with Mikyle Malabuyoc finishing a layup under the rim. 

In the 2nd quarter, Western continued to show their offensive prowess building a lead by as much as 10. Ottawa continued to fight back, cutting the Mustangs lead to 2 going into the break. 

Noah Otshudi finished the half with 11 points, including two 3-point plays, and Malabuyoc also added 11 points. 

The third quarter was a battle, with both teams going back and forth on offense. Milan John knocked down back-to-back 3's to put the Mustangs up by three heading into the fourth quarter. He finished the night with 17 points. 

The fourth quarter started off with the Mustangs forcing a shot clock violation on the Gee-Gees. Ottawa continued to find ways to score, with Ankit Choudhary scoring 29 points, including 7-10 from the 3 point line. Ottawa held on to close out the game 86-81.
