London, ON – The Western Mustangs mounted a come-from-behind win in the top of the 9
th inning to take a 4-3 win over Laurier on Sunday morning in the finale of the OUA Far West Qualifier.
Laurier got the opening run of the game in the bottom of the 1
st when Ash Abols hit a ground ball into center field that brought in Liam McTague.
Western would even things up a 1-1 in the top of the 4
th, Spencer Eidt reached on an error which scored R Nuernberger and tied the game up.
Laurier responded in the bottom of the inning on a Jack Larmer line drive to centerfield brought Abols into score and gave Laurier a 2-1 lead.
Tempers would flare in the bottom of the 7
th inning, after Laurier got a double to put runners on 2
nd and 3
rd base with 2 outs, Golden Hawks batter P Dineen would get called out at first base on a close play and was immediately ejected from the game by the umpire. The game remained 2-1 through 7 innings.
In the top of the 9
th inning, Western's Noah Canzio hit a line drive into left centerfield that was bobbled by the Laurier fielder allowing the Mustangs to advance to second and third. Laurier's pitcher would then throw a pair of wild pitches, bringing both Western runners into score and giving Western a 3-2 lead. The Mustangs would add an insurance run later in the inning when A Carlyle hit a line drive to left field, scoring Eidt to take a 4-2 lead.
Laurier would try to mount pressure in the bottom of the 9
th inning but wasn't able to cash in any runs and drop the game 4-2.
Both teams would finish the regional event with a 1&2 record and missed out on the afternoon final.

Lancers take 4-3 walk-off win over Mustangs in OUA Far West opener
London, ON – The Windsor Lancers didn't get their bats going until the 5
th inning but battled their way to a 4-3 win over Western as both teams opened the OUA Far West Regional Qualifier at Labatt Park.
The Mustangs got on the board early, starting with an Ewan Ferguson double that brough in Parker McLean to give Western a 1-0 lead. The Mustangs would add a second run in the opening inning on a wild pitch and hold a 2-0 advantage.
Ferguson would come through for the Mustangs again in the 3
rd inning when he hit a line drive to right field, bringing in Alex Brown to push the Western lead to 3-0.
In the bottom of the 5
th Windsor would start to build momentum scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. Will Cockram hit a sac fly to score Tennyson Seguin & and then with two outs Nick Zinyk would single and score Justin Kelly-Boxe to cut the Western lead to 3-2 through 5 innings.
Windsor would tie things up in the bottom of the 6
th when Jack Marcotte singled, scoring Jake Colombe. The game was even at 3-3.
After both sides put up zeros in the 7
th and 8
th inning, Windsor started the 9
th with a double from Cockram. Western would get two outs in the inning but found themselves in a bases loaded situation and Matteo Tedesco came up clutch with a line drive to left field on a 1-0 count that scored Kyle Jones and give Windsor a 4-3 win.
Windsor got 9 innings on the mound from Isaac Harris who gave up 7 hits, 3 earned runs, he walked 3 and struck out 3 in the win
Josh Krautner pitched 6 innings for the Mustangs, giving up 2 earned runs, walking a pair and striking out three. He would be followed by Ben Murphy who pitch the final two and two thirds innings, giving up one run and striking out two.
Game 2 - Oct. 4 @ 2:30 pm vs. Waterloo
Waterloo's steady play leads to a 5-1 win over Western
London, ON – The Waterloo Warriors had consistent pressure, mixed with 5 Western errors led Waterloo to a 5-1 win over the Mustangs on Friday afternoon.
Waterloo got on the board in the bottom of the 1
st inning on a fielders choice grounder to 2
nd base, bringing Alessandro Strazzeri into score and giving the Warriors the early 1-0 lead.
The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the 5
th inning when Klaus Aplevich scored on an error by the catcher, giving Waterloo a 2-0 advantage.
The Warriors would extend the lead in the bottom of the 6
th, they would play some small ball when Strazzeri would lay down a bunt and after an error at first base, Sean Skorupski would come in to score giving Waterloo a 3-0 lead. After Western got the first out of the inning, Cody Hagerman would single on a hard ground ball to third and Strazzeri would come in to score and push the score to 4-0.
Waterloo added another run in the 5
th inning on a Nolan Misa single and took a 5-0 lead.
Western picked up their first run of the game in the top of the 8
th inning on a Colin Mayhew sacrifice fly that brought in Parker McLean and cut the Waterloo lead to 5-1, but that would be the final score on the day.
