LONDON, ON -

On Friday night, the Mustangs returned home to take on the Nipissing Lakers looking to extend their winning streak to 3 games.

Jenna Button got the Mustangs up and running knocking down a three, racing to 10 points on the quarter. The Mustangs led by 21-14 after the first.

In the second quarter, the Mustangs continued to build on their lead, extending to as much as 23-points. Paris Alexander took charge, knocking down threes and drawing fouls around the rim. Western's 3PT shooting came alive, nailing four threes, leading 47-25 at halftime.

The Mustangs defense stifled the Lakers offense, forcing turnovers and stealing the ball 27 times. Avarie Thomas and Emily Capretta stole the ball 10 and 5 times respectively. The Mustangs led 59-38. Thomas finished the night with 11 rebounds, 10 steals, 5 points and 5 assists.

Western continued to play well on both ends of the floor, earning their third consecutive win, 68-48.

Head Coach Nate McKibbon was pleased with the effort his team showed. "We handled the pressure well. I thought we defended pretty well in the full court. Late in the game, I think we let our guard down a bit and we have to do a better job positionally. But I thought the aggression and the team defense we played early gave them problems and helped us build an early lead."

The Mustangs are back in action Saturday, November 23rd at 6PM EST against the Laurentian Voyageurs. Tune in live on OUA.tv.
