Armstrong's 26 not enough, Brock takes it at the buzzer 76-75

LONDON, ON -

On Wednesday evening, the Mustangs looked to extend their winning streak to four games against the Brock Badgers.

Both teams came out playing with great pace, moving the ball around and penetrating the paint. Imran Armstrong got the Mustangs up and running, finishing the quarter with 9 points. Western trailed by 1 point after the first quarter, 23-22.

The game swung both ways throughout the quarter. Armstrong carried his first quarter momentum forward, and finished the half with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Western started to build a 5-point lead at the half, 43-38.

The Mustangs shot the ball well in the third quarter and continued to hustle. Brock fought back, cutting the lead to 2 points heading into the fourth. The game went back and forth throughout the quarter, and Matteo Zagar put the Mustangs ahead with 0.5 seconds left before Brock pulled off a buzzer beater three to steal the game back. Brock won 76-75.

Despite the controversial finish, co-captain George Horn was proud of the fight his team showed. "Despite our defensive struggles, it was great to see guys shoot the ball well today. Imran made a pile of threes, and that was good."

Armstrong notched a career-high, 26 points and made 7 threes from 10 attempts.

The Mustangs head into 2025 a game behind of 0.500. They are back in action January 10th, 2025 at 8PM EST against the Algoma Thunderbirds. Tune in OUA.tv.
