The Mustangs last regular season home game took place Saturday night, against the Guelph Gryphons. In the 2023 to 2024 season, the Mustangs have played the Gryphons and have fallen to them both times, although, only by 1 point.

On Saturday, the Mustangs were eager to take the victory.

The first period starts with the Mustangs clearly dominating the play against the Gryphons with impressive forechecking and strong defence which gave the team positive energy. Goalie for the Mustangs, Ella Brabrook, made some amazing sales as well keeping the Gryphons from opening the scoring.

Halfway through the first, the score remained tied at 0 as both teams could not capitalize on their scoring opportunities.

The period continued with back and forth action until the buzzer sounded, score still at 0-0.

The second twenty minutes of the game saw similar back and forth action as the first period. The Mustangs generated several great scoring opportunities to get a point on the board, but the Gryphons goalie held strong.

Halfway through the second, the Mustangs finally broke through and secured the puck in the back of the Mustangs net. Right in front of the net, Alyssa Wouda pushed the puck past the Gryphons goalie to open the scoring for the night and to get her team in the lead.

The second period continued on with the Mustangs carrying much positive momentum. With about 5 minutes left in the period, defence rookie, Arnica Bulmer, got another one for the Mustangs, solidifying their lead.

The second period ended with the two goal lead for the Mustangs, and the Gryphons still with no points on the scoreboard.

The Mustangs opened the third period with a bang as they got their third goal of the night against the Gryphons. Avry Pedersen from the Mustangs brought her team up to a three goal lead early on in the first.

The rest of the third period went along with the Gryphons still unable to get a goal against the Mustangs, as all lines of the team held strong.

With three minutes left, the Gryphons pulled their goalie, and got a goal against the Mustangs, leaving the score at 3-1.

The intensity of the play did not die down in the third, as both teams were fighting hard against each other, up until the clock hit zero, and the game ended.
