London, ON - The Western Mustangs Athletes of the Week powered by Under Armour for the week ending March 10, 2024 are Favour Okpali from Track & Field and Shona Branton from Swimming.

Favour capped off her university career a gold medal in the 600m at the 2024 U SPORTS Track & Field Championship. It was a personal best and school record time of 1:28.64. She also added a bronze in the 300m after running another school record in the heats of 38.38. She closed out the meet with another historic relay split of 53.4 bringing the team from a 50m deficit to finish 4th. This split breaks the meet record of Jen Cotten from 2008 by more than a second.

Shona had an incredible performance at the U SPORTS Swimming Championship winning 4 medals. She won 2 gold medals in the 50m & 100m Breaststroke and added a silver in the 200m Breaststroke. She was also part of the 4 x 100m medley relay team that took bronze. Shona was named Female Swimmer of the Meet.
