Box Score Waterloo, ON – The Mustangs scored twice in the third period, snapping their six-game losing streak and defeating the Waterloo Warriors 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. Both teams had six penalties and six power-play opportunities, making it a penalty-heavy game.
The first period, the game started slowly, with a total of five power play opportunities—three for Waterloo and two for Western, but both teams held strong on the penalty kill, keeping the game scoreless at the end of the period.
Mustangs goalie Ella Brabrook made several big saves, stopping 10 shot attempts from the Warriors in the first period and finishing the night with 22 total saves.
The second period, Waterloo opened the scoring at 5:36. Later in the period, both teams clogged the neutral zone in an attempt to limit each other to shots from the outside. The few close chances that either team managed were shut down by the goaltenders. The period ended 1-0 in favor of the Warriors.
In the third period, Janique LaBossiere tied the game at 1-1 for the Mustangs at 8:45, assisted by Adeline Kristoff.
The Mustangs saved their best for last, as Elizabeth Gauthier struck with an unassisted goal at 14:52, giving Western the 2-1 lead.
Waterloo had a few shot attempts in the dying minutes of the game in an effort to tie things, firing nine shots in the last frame. However, Ella Brabrook and the Western defense shut down every attempt. With the Waterloo unable to complete the comeback, and Western sealed the victory while snapping their six-game losing streak for the season.

The Mustangs will return home on Friday to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks at 7:00 p.m. This will be the final meeting between the two teams this season.
