Mustangs Fall to Windsor After Strong Start

London, ON – The Western Mustangs came out strong and controlled much of the game, but a late push from the Windsor Lancers resulted in a tough 2-1 loss on home ice.

The first period saw both teams battling for the puck, with several scoring opportunities but no goals in the first half of period. The Mustangs came close to breaking the deadlock, but Windsor's goaltender made an important glove save to keep the game scoreless. With five minutes left in the period, Western capitalized on their first power-play opportunity as #16 Janique LaBossiere found the back of the net, giving the Mustangs a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Western carried their momentum into the second period, earning another power play early on. However, a penalty midway through their advantage led to a four-on-four situation, where neither team was able to capitalize.

Another power-play opportunity for Western later in the period created scoring chances, but Windsor's defense held strong to keep it a one-goal game.

The third period saw Windsor increase their energy and offensive pressure. A body-checking penalty against Windsor gave the Mustangs another man advantage, but they were unable to extend their lead. The Lancers continued to push forward and eventually broke through, tying the game at 1-1 halfway through the period. With momentum on their side, Windsor struck again later in the frame to take a 2-1 lead.

Windsor's defense held strong, securing the comeback win, 2-1.
