Mustangs drop 4-1 match against York

London, ON - The Mustangs took on top ranked York on Friday night, falling 4-1 to the Lions.

The game began quickly with both teams on fire pushing to get the ball. York then got their first goal of the game 13 minutes in, making it an early 1-0 game. The Lions then got another goal making it 2-0. Western accidentally put an own goal in off a deflection to make it 3-0. The Mustangs then had a really good assist and took a shot but unfortunately missed. They went into halftime with the score of 3-0.

The second half started off a lot stronger for the Mustangs as they picked up their pace. Many shots were taken by Western although they missed a few, their team spirits seemed to be higher. The Mustangs then got an epic goal from Callum Yuille boosting their morale, cutting the York lead to 3-1. York would respond in the 89th minute netting another goal ending the game at 4-1.

"For the majority of the game, I thought we played well. We had some defensive lapses early on and it's tough to comeback when you're down three to a team as good as York." said Mustangs Head Coach Martin Painter "We were punished for naive mistakes, but it wasn't a terrible performance."
