Mustangs End the Weekend With A Double Sweep Against TMU

TORONTO, ON - The Mustangs came out strong and stayed in control from start to finish. Western set the tone early and never let up, sweeping the match in straight sets. Big runs and steady play helped them close each set with confidence. A full team effort led to a clean weekend win.

Friday, January 9

GAME RECAP

Western came out fast and built an early lead with strong attacks and a few clean service points. TMU tried to settle in, but Western kept control with steady scoring and solid blocking at the net. A TMU timeout came midway through the set, but Western answered right away with more points. Late in the set, Western stayed calm and finished strong to take the set 25–17. 

The second set was much closer, with both teams trading points early. Western pulled ahead with a few key kills and strong serves, forcing TMU to use another timeout. TMU pushed back and tied the score late, making the final stretch tight. After a Western timeout at 23–23, Western closed the set with two big points to win 25–23. 

Western set the tone early again, jumping out to a quick lead behind tough serving and clean swings. TMU struggled to stop the run, calling a timeout as Western continued to score. The Mustangs stayed aggressive and didn't let up, building a large gap. Western finished the match in style, taking the final set 25–12 to complete the sweep. 

Saturday, January 10

GAME RECAP

Western started strong and took control early with quick points and solid play at the net. TMU pushed back and briefly took the lead, but Western responded with a good run behind steady offense. A few strong serves helped Western build space in the middle of the set. Late points kept TMU from getting close, and Western closed the set 25–20. 

The second set stayed tight early as both teams traded points. Western slowly pulled ahead with clean attacks and fewer mistakes, forcing TMU to chase the score. Strong net play helped Western stretch the lead late. Western stayed in control and finished the set comfortably, winning 25–16. 

TMU scored first, but Western quickly answered and went on a big run. Western kept pressure on with strong swings and forced TMU into errors. The lead grew quickly, and TMU struggled to stop the momentum. Western closed out the match with confidence, taking the final set 25–15.
