OSHAWA, ON — The Western Mustangs wrapped up their road trip Saturday night with a 4–1 loss to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at the Campus Ice Centre.
Ontario Tech opened the scoring at 15:04 of the first period and added another goal at 6:27 to take early control. Western responded quickly after earning a power play at 5:53, with Emma Campbell (#71) finishing the opportunity at 5:34 to put the Mustangs on the board. A second Western power play later in the period generated pressure, but the score remained 2–1 heading into the intermission.
The Ridgebacks extended their lead midway through the second period with a goal at 11:05. Despite Western pushing for chances and battling through traffic in the offensive zone, Ontario Tech held the Mustangs to a single goal through forty minutes.
Western continued to press in the third period and pulled the goaltender with four minutes remaining in search of a late spark. Ontario Tech sealed the game with an empty-net goal in the final 30 seconds, closing out the 4–1 result.
The Mustangs now return home to Thompson Arena, where they'll host the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday at 7 p.m. as they look to bounce back in front of their home crowd.
