HUGE comeback against the York Lions to start the weekend off with good momentum. They truly persevered and got through every single point with their heads up. Way to go Western.

GAME RECAP
After a lively weekend win against Waterloo, the Mustangs were back on their home court ready to roll against the York Lions.
It wasn't the best start for the Mustangs with a 9-4 leverage from the Lions early on. Western was making serve receive errors leading to obstructed plays that just weren't quite working out. Western also called a timeout at this point. Things weren't looking to good for the Mustangs as York was consecutively bringing in kills and blocks that they just couldn't recover from. The score was 14-8 for the Lions. After a few silly errors, the Mustangs called a timeout at 20-13 in efforts to try and regroup. The Lions ended up taking the set at 25-17 to make it a 1-0 game.Â
The second set was an okay beginning for the Mustangs with fewer mistakes, the Lions were just one step ahead at 8-6. At 11-6, Western ended up calling a timeout in efforts of a better set. The Mustangs were just unfortunate with short ball drops after blocks and overpasses that the Lions used to their advantage. At 10-12 the Mustangs were catching up capitalizing off of the Lions errors. As Western was beginning to catch up at 15-14, the Lions asked for a timeout. At this point the Mustangs were right behind the Lions after each play at 18-17. After a nice shank save, Western tied the score at 19 all. The Mustangs then called a timeout at 24-22 in efforts extend the set in their favor. Things were getting intense as the teams tied at 24-24. York also asked for a timeout. With a service error and unfortunate ball placement for Western, the Lions took this set 26-24 to make it 2-0.
The third set began well for the Mustangs with a leading score of 9-7. The Lions had been really on top of their block game with 3 consecutive walls in a row against the Mustangs at 11-9. After a few errors by the Lions, the Mustangs caught up at 15-14 which also resulted in a timeout York. Although the Lions had a huge foot save with a nice rally at 19-18, the Mustangs were able to keep it together and secure the point at 20-18. At 24-22 York called a timeout to try and end it off in 3. The Mustangs finished the set with a banger kill at 25-22 to make it a 2-1 game.Â
The fourth set was a decent start for the Mustangs with a score of 9-7 for the Lions. Western was still learning to get past York's insane blocks and how to make the most out of their own. At 12-9 Western asked for a timeout to try and lessen the gap. After a massive save of play by the Mustangs, Western just kept going up and tied the score at 12 all. This led to a timeout from the Lions. The Mustangs were on a roll with consecutive kills keeping their momentum going at 17-14. Western called for a timeout at 19-17 to combat for a minor setback. At 20-20 the Mustangs caught up from York's errors. After a NASTY block by Silon, the Lions called a timeout at 24-22. Western ended the set with a bouncy kill at 25-23, extending it to a 5th.Â
This set was a close start for the teams at 4-3 for the Mustangs. Both teams were fighting for each and every point down to the nitty gritties. The Mustangs were doing really well capitalizing off of the Lions errors at 11-7. York just couldn't seem to keep the ball within the lines this set. Just when everyone thought the game was over, the Lions came in with a crazy kill at 14-10. What a comeback the Mustangs had this game. They really overcame their struggles mentally and physically to finish off the game at 15-10 and take the win 3-2.Â
