London, ON - Western's prestigious Purple Blankets are presented to the student athletes who, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, achieved superior distinction at the Provincial/National level of competition as representatives of Western.

Chloe Coutts of the Mustangs Cross Country & Track and Field teams is a 2026 recipient of this honour.

Across four years in purple, Chloe Coutts has distinguished herself as one of the defining student-athletes of this era at Western. From earning OUA Rookie of the Year honours in cross country to helping secure national titles on the track, she has consistently elevated both team standards and results.

Chloe competed at the U SPORTS Championships in cross country and track throughout her career, capturing six national medals, including silver in the 1500m and 4x800m relay in 2025. She was instrumental in multiple OUA and national team championships, and her reliability in championship relays made her a cornerstone of our success.

Internationally, she represented Canada at the World Athletics U20 Championships and the FISU Summer World University Games.

What sets Chloe apart is not only her medal count, but her resilience. Through injuries and setbacks, she pursued excellence with discipline and intelligence, maximizing every resource to return stronger each time. She balanced these demands while earning Academic All-Canadian status in a rigorous dual degree in Medical Sciences and Ivey.

Coutts shares what it meant to win a purple blanket and also a few key memories of her time as a Mustang.

Congratulations Chloe on this well deserved honour. The full list of Purple Blanket winners can be found HERE.
